A Few Words From Our Clients...
As W.Rhythym Fitness reaches it's first year anniversary, I wanted to put down a few thoughts of what "The W" means to me and to wish you the very best success in the coming years. (you may use any portion of this as a testimonial or for publicity in any way you wish)
When I came to "W" I was looking for a barre class. I was curious about the exercise and thought it might be an interesting way to exercise.
What I found in the W. Rhythm Fitness studio was much more than a barre class. Wanessa, you put so much heart and effort to make sure that your students succeed.
You keep it fun and light and yet you also pay attention to form to be sure that an exercise is done correctly without risk of injury.
Your studio is much more than a barre class. You offer so many different classes I am never bored. From the relaxed Sunday morning Barre class (done to jazz music) to the pounding Piloxing beats and the cycle barre; there are so many classes offered for all different skill levels, the studio always seems fresh and fun.
More important than all the classes and exercises, I have found a great group of people. We are all friends and we have fun together. As the saying goes "I've found my tribe".
I wish you the very best!

It is rarely, if ever, that I write a fan letter except when the occasion demands it. This is a big one!
A year ago, I went through major surgery which led to a long recuperation period. This left me unable to even think about returning to my normal activities.
At the insistence of my friends, who are two of your students, I joined your classes. I had the usual apprehensions that I would not be able to keep up with the class – that it would be too hard or that it would be a long time before I enjoyed some benefits.
I was wrong on all counts. Within a couple of months, I found my posture to be much improved. I began to feel my strength return as the combination of stretching and light strength work. I even added 10 yards to my golf drive which would have been worth it alone.
The better I felt physically; I enjoyed each day more than ever.
The nicest surprise was getting to know the instructor. You amazed me how you worked with a class with varying abilities and yet were able to give personal attention to each. Your spirit, enthusiasm and design of activities inspired us to keep pushing.
On a personal level, Vanessa, you have improved me physically, emotionally and spiritually. And that makes a big difference.
I've been physically active all my life--running, playing tennis, hiking, bicycling--but on the sidelines of work. Once I retired, I decided my next job was going to be exercising, full-time--partly as a gift to my sons so that I might not need much attention for many years to come, partly to ensure I could keep doing the long-distance walking my husband and I had been doing every summer for years; I was determined to stay in shape as I aged.
So I took the job seriously, going to the fitness center 6 times a week, taking yoga classes, Tabata, TRX, HIIT classes.
I loved challenging my body to keep up with the younger bodies in the room. Then the fitness center stopped offering those options and introduced barre classes. I had done ballet as a youngster but had had no dance classes since then, with the exception of modern dance classes in college.
So I was skeptical. But since I had been in Wanessa's high-intensity workout classes and always enjoyed her cheerfulness and high spirits, I decided to try her barre classes.
The micro-movements of barre work offered a change from the previous work-outs, but my muscles still had to work hard, still defied me at times.
A few weeks after beginning the barre classes in Kent, I spent several months on the West Coast. I looked for barre classes out there and found they were plentiful; they were populated almost exclusively by new mothers trying to get their bodies back in shape.
Not exactly my peer group--but, hey, here was another chance to challenge my limits. And besides, I was sort of a 'new mother': I was there to take care of two grandchildren every day--ages 2 and 8 months. Lord knows, I needed strength and stamina. The barre classes were intense; one mantra was "Embrace the Shake."
Now back in Kent, I am especially enjoying the hybrid barre classes as Wanessa combines barre work with Pilates exercise, yoga work, boxing, and so on.
The variety is energizing. The challenges are myriad. And Wanessa is still unceasingly cheerful and high-spirited.
"It’s almost a year since I’ve been attending classes at W. Rhythm Fitness and I can honestly say that I am never bored! Wanessa makes every class a new experience – new moves, new routines, new equipment – and of course, new muscles! She is in tune with her clients and gears her classes accordingly. The studio has a great atmosphere – inclusive, non-judgemental, friendly and energetic – a place where people of all ages can feel comfortable and supported while seeing great results."
Of course I think it is important to try and be as healthy as you can be.
However, I am not an exercise person. Recently I joined “Wanessa’s Fitness” program in downtown Kent. I was intrigued by the unusual and edgy combination of classes -- each very different and most not available elsewhere.
And I thought that, especially as I get (a little!) older, including regular and varied fitness in my day might be helpful and fun!
In little time and without even realizing it, I have developed strength and endurance that I didn’t even realize I was missing! And it all seemed effortless and continues to be a great time with a caring, enthusiastic and talented instructor. Thank you Wanessa!
The barre classes at W.Rythym Studio are one of the best exercise classes I have taken. They are unique and designed to effectively work every part of the body and include cardio and stretching.
As I reached my late 60's, I became aware how much my strength and balance was fading and wanted classes that would improve them. These barre classes significantly improved both my strength and balance in just two months. I have stronger legs, much better arm and abdominal strength and better muscle tone.
Wanessa is a great instructor who provides alternatives so that all levels and all ages can benefit from these classes, even old people like me. And, she makes it fun!

My journey to discovering barre classes took the usual routes through many forms of exercise. Having been rather athletic my whole life, coupled with having had a physically challenging career as a equine veterinarian and equestrian, I have had my share of injuries and subsequent musculoskeletal issues like anyone else.
With a career change that has afforded me sedentary work from a desk at home, I saw the weight creep on, my muscle tone dwindle away, and joint pain increase. I purchased a Nordictrack and began extensive hiking, yet saw little improvement. I next joined a local gym and for one year went virtually everyday, engaging tough workouts involving TRX, rowing, spinning, personal core training sessions and yoga. I saw some change in muscle tone but the weight clung on and I was visiting my chiropractor virtually every week. Equally as frustrating, I felt tired.
Upon the pleading of my chiropractor, I consented to just go with yoga for a period of time until my chronic injuries abated.
So in the search for more yoga classes in my area, I discovered Wanessa. I signed up for a two month barre program, but within the second week, converted it to a full monthly membership where I could take advantage of her other amazing classes as well.
Not only did I see my body change immediately (and I am sure that my basic fitness level played a significant role), but the workouts were just plain fun... and powerful; I certainly felt the impact of the "little lifts!" But as importantly, I would feel energized the
remainder of the day.
What is barre? Well, I encourage you to research this on your own, as there is certainly plenty of excellent material out there on the web. For myself, not only am I dropping weight, but I am developing long, lean muscling and my visits to the chiropractor have virtually ceased. This studio is a gem, and so is Wanessa.
